- 12+1 Reasons Turning 40 Is the Plot Twist You Needed
Forty is when you realize you’re the adult everyone was waiting for. Let’s start with a confession. When I turned 39, I had a bit of a crisis... maybe it was the famous midlife one. I had everything that was supposed to make me feel complete: a marriage, a child, a home, a good car. And yet I caught myself wondering, what now ? Is there still more to discover in life? I felt stuck for a while, unsure how to handle the thought of turning forty. I remember sitting at a class reunion surrounded by people my age, catching up after years apart. I kept asking them what keeps them going, how they feel about approaching forty. Most of them smiled and said the same thing: just enjoy it . Then something surprising happened. I started to feel genuinely good. Calm, confident, and quietly satisfied in a way I never had before. I truly do not care what people think anymore. It sounds like a cliché but it is one of life’s greatest freedoms. I do not filter myself to fit into other people’s expectations. I know who I am, what I like, and what I stand for. That inner calm and confidence are things I wish I had discovered earlier. Comparison has left the chat Life is not a competition. Everyone carries a different package, different circumstances, different lessons, different timelines. Some people reach their so called peak early, others later, and some of us might have several peaks at completely unexpected times. And why not. Fashion and I Are Friends Again I enjoy fashion again. In my twenties it felt effortless to be stylish, it simply happened without much thought. In my thirties I somehow lost that feeling, I could not quite find myself in what I wore and often felt disconnected from my own look. Now it feels completely different. I follow trends but never in a forced way. I know what truly suits me, what makes me feel confident and comfortable. I am also much bolder than I was five or ten years ago and I love experimenting again. Getting dressed feels creative, personal, and joyful just as it should. Who Knew Moving Could Feel This Good About a year and a half ago I began to move regularly and it has completely transformed how I feel in my body. I never thought I would be the kind of person who actually enjoys exercise, but here I am. The difference is not only visible but deeply emotional. My back no longer hurts, my body feels stronger and works the way it should, and I simply have more energy for everything. It proved to me that it is never too late to start something new and to feel good in your own skin again. Channeling My Inner Grandma in the Kitchen Cooking has turned into something creative and joyful. I do not need recipes or perfect ingredients anymore, I can simply open the fridge and make something tasty out of whatever is there. I often notice that my hands move the same way my grandmother’s did, calm and sure, with that quiet joy of feeding others. I love cooking for my family and baking for my colleagues, bringing homemade treats to the office. It feels easy, warm, and deeply satisfying every single time. I enjoy company and solitude equally. I love spending time with friends and sharing laughter and stories. Yet I also cherish quiet evenings alone with tea and soft music. Weekends Hit Different Now I still like a good night out, just not every weekend anymore. Since becoming a mom, recovery takes a bit longer and I pick my parties wisely. But I have plenty of other things that give me a buzz. My flowers, my band, my blog, my cooking, they keep me creative and alive in a different way. Life still has rhythm, it just plays on a cooler beat now. I am finally doing my bucket list things. The dreams I once postponed have become real projects. For example, I am part of a band now and that makes me feel both brave and alive. It reminds me that dreams do not expire with age they simply wait for the right time. I Don’t Want to Be a CEO, I Just Want Balance There was a time when I thought climbing higher was the only way to prove myself. Now I look at what the so called top looks like and honestly it does not tempt me at all. Endless meetings, constant pressure, late night slides for Monday presentations? No, thank you. I prefer a life that actually feels like mine. My work is fulfilling, my free time is sacred, and my head is clear. That feels like real success, not chasing titles but finding balance and satisfaction in what I already have. Bridging Generations Like a Pro I can hang out with people twenty years younger or older and feel perfectly at home. I get the memes, I know the songs, and I can talk about taxes or TikTok with the same enthusiasm. The younger ones probably think I am a boomer deep down, but that is fine, I secretly enjoy shocking them with how much I actually know. Conversations feel richer now because I can see life from so many sides. Age really is just good storytelling material. Money Well Spent on Me These days I buy things because I want them, period. No justifying, no waiting for sales, no mental math about whether I deserve it. Last week I saw a 550 euro ring, liked it, and bought it. Same with my 100 euro face serum, it works, I like it, end of story. I do not throw money around, but I enjoy spending it on things that make sense to me. I have my savings, I plan wisely, but there is room for both comfort and spontaneity. https://amzn.to/43EZcHp Life Feels a Lot Less Messy Now Back in my twenties everything was a mess: my hair, my apartment, my makeup, my relationships, even my laundry situation. Pure chaos, but with eyeliner. These days things finally feel more under control. My home is tidy, my schedule makes sense, and I actually know where my favorite jeans are. I have not turned into a neat freak, but I somehow managed to organize both my space and my mind. Let’s just say the outside finally caught up with the inside... and it feels pretty good. +1 A few years ago my eyesight stopped being perfect, but a good pair of glasses dresses me better than any accessory.
- Fall/Winter Pieces I Already Got and the Ones Still Missing from My Wardrobe
I’m really into the current trends this season. Honestly I could see myself wearing almost all of them if only I had unlimited budget and unlimited closet space. Since that’s not the case I had to be a little selective. Three new favorites already found their way into my wardrobe and there are three more pieces I’m still planning to get for the 2025/2026 season. Next week I’ll be at Vienna Fashion Week which will surely bring even more inspiration but here’s what I already have and what I’m still hunting for. Three pieces I already got Suede leather jacket (Vinted) When I first saw this jacket I fell for the warm autumn shade and the effortless style. But when it arrived I quickly realized it wasn’t the best choice. The leather is much stiffer than I expected and the overall condition is not as good as it looked in the photos. Most likely it will go back to Vinted soon and I’ll resell it there for a lower price with a more detailed description so the next owner knows exactly what to expect and won’t be surprised like I was. Dark blue Massimo Dutti Accordion pleated skirt (Vinted) This one I absolutely adore. I’m not really a skirt type of girl but somehow this piece won me over completely. The color is elegant the cut is comfortable and it’s so easy to style. I’ve always loved Massimo Dutti and most of my pieces are second hand from Vinted. This skirt will definitely be in heavy rotation this season. Black western boots (Mjus) This is the one piece I should have bought seasons ago. I’ve always loved horses and I used to ride for many years so this style has always felt very natural to me. The pair I just ordered is a simple black mid calf cowboy boot from Zalando from the brand Mjus . I didn’t know the label before but it’s an Italian brand known for its high quality leather shoes with a mix of comfort and style. My expectations are quite high so I’m really curious how they will turn out. The boots are arriving on Tuesday and I can’t wait to try them on. Hopefully they fit because I really don’t want to send them back. I already feel they could become a staple in so many outfits. Three pieces I still want to get Brown bomber jacket Since the suede jacket didn’t really turn out as I hoped I decided to look for something different instead. A bomber feels like a much better option for me right now light comfortable and with that effortless laid back vibe I love. I’m specifically searching for one in brown since it’s such a versatile color and will go with almost everything in my wardrobe. Bold statement earrings I recently cut my hair short just above the shoulders and I’m still getting used to styling it in different ways. What I already noticed though is that bold statement earrings look incredible with shorter hair because they are so visible and instantly elevate even the simplest outfit. They add that playful touch I sometimes miss when I dress more minimal. Big necklaces were never really for me since I don’t want to draw extra attention to my bust but earrings feel like the perfect way to make a statement without feeling over the top. I’m on the hunt for a pair that is daring yet still elegant something I could wear both with casual looks and on special occasions. Oversized clutch bag There is something almost humorous about the oversized clutch trend because sometimes it looks like a giant old fashioned wallet your grandmother might have carried. And that is exactly what makes it so charming. It feels playful relaxed and at the same time very fashionistas. I would not wear it every single day but definitely on those mornings when I wake up in a good mood and feel like adding something special to my outfit. For me the clutch has to be really oversized so big that my laptop can actually fit inside. That is when it becomes not only fun but also practical. Coming back to Vienna Fashion Week I have to admit I am really excited because I have never been to an event like this before. I just hope my sense of style will not let me down and that I will feel both good and authentic in the outfit I have envisioned for myself. We will see. I promise to bring you a few photos next time. Bye Friends!
- Back to School/Back to Routine. A Fresh Start for the New Season
After a whole month of travelling in August I feel grateful for all the quality time we had with old friends and family. We visited new places and went back to some familiar ones where we could explore or just relax on the beach. I even went out partying twice which after the past year feels like a big thing for me. These moments made the month special and gave me memories I will take with me into the new season. You know that slightly confused moment in the morning when you open your eyes and for a second you do not know where you are. That happened to me almost every morning. But I am not here to complain because the whole month was simply incredible and I enjoyed every bit of it especially after the spring and early summer from May to July were all about my illness and my recovery. Eating habits I will not deny that in August I let myself enjoy life to the fullest. After months of strict eating and no alcohol because of my gallbladder and pancreatitis I was finally able to live a normal life again. I celebrated that with more food and drinks than usual and yes I gained a few kilos back but I like to see the bright side because for example my face now has fewer wrinkles. Life just tastes very well again without feeling any pain and that is fantastic! Summer was full of indulgence and I do not regret a single meal or glass of wine. It was part of celebrating life after a difficult period and I needed that joy. But now I want to bring back a balance that makes me feel light and energetic. My plan is to enjoy good food without the excess and to choose meals that nourish me while still tasting amazing. This means more fresh seasonal vegetables warming homemade soups and simple treats that satisfy without overdoing it. Poke bowl - a healty lunch/dinner option 2. Weight Training This is something I actually managed to keep up during the whole of August. Since my regular gym routine was almost completely missing last month I decided to take my 3 kilo weights with me everywhere I travelled and not just for decoration. I trained with them almost every other day because I truly believe our bodies need muscle to stay healthy and strong. And let us be honest it is also aesthetically pleasing. Over time I have come to trust weight training more than endless cardio. Of course the truth is probably somewhere in the golden middle as it is with most things in life. I am not here to give detailed fitness advice because there are plenty of people who do this full time and do it incredibly well. What I want to share is the importance of consistency. Do it on your good days and on your not so good days too. The feeling afterwards will always be worth it. 3. Staying Organized Especially at Home This is probably my biggest challenge because I have to admit I am naturally a rather messy girl. And when you live in a small apartment with two other people and a cat it is even more difficult to keep everything in order. Small spaces get messy quickly and it sometimes feels like the moment you tidy up one corner another one is already in chaos. There is one golden rule that I am really trying to follow now and it is this: If you take something out put it back afterwards! It sounds incredibly simple but living by it every day requires real consistency (again). The trick is not to wait until things pile up but to deal with them in the moment. A cup you just used a sweater you tried on a book you finished reading all of these should go back to their place immediately. Another key for me is making sure that everything has its own home. I recently invested in several new storage boxes which I will link below. They help so much especially in a small apartment where every bit of space matters. And for the first time ever I packed away my summer clothes so that my autumn and winter beauties have enough room in the wardrobe. This small change made my closet look more spacious and much easier to keep tidy. It also gives me a sense of calm every time I open the door and see everything neatly in place. 4. Returning to Hiking The benefits of being close to nature and moving your body outdoors probably do not need much explanation. In the past hiking was a big part of my life. I used to go with friends on most weekends and there were periods when we covered more than one hundred kilometres in just a few days. Those adventures brought so much joy fresh air laughter and the kind of tiredness that feels deeply satisfying. Now my hikes look a little different because I always go with my seven year old daughter. Our distance is usually around seven to eight kilometres each time which is naturally much less than before but still so much better than doing nothing at all. And it is not only about the movement. I like to think that she is learning one of the simplest and cheapest ways to take care of her mental and physical health. Walking through forests listening to the sound of leaves under our feet watching the light change between the trees these are things that stay with you. For me hiking in spring and autumn is the best. The weather is cooler the air feels fresher and the colors are simply beautiful. I also love hiking when the weather is misty because the landscape has a unique atmosphere that cannot be compared to anything else. There is something about stepping into the forest on a crisp autumn morning that instantly clears my mind and makes me feel both grounded and inspired. My goal this season is to go hiking as often as possible so that it becomes a natural part of our life again. 5. Going to More Concerts I love music and I cannot imagine my life without it. Live music has a magic that nothing else can replace. The sound the lights and the energy of the crowd make every song feel more alive. I have already planned 4 concerts until the end of the year and I cannot wait for them. For me concerts are little celebrations of life and I want to enjoy as many as I can. - Caffeine free in a world that thinks a latte fixes everything
In a world that runs on espresso shots, latte and energy drinks, choosing to live caffeine free might sound radical or at least a bit old fashioned. But for many of us, ditching caffeine is not about giving something up. It is about getting something back. I have now been living caffeine free for more than two months and I can honestly say it has been one of the most surprising shifts in my daily life. But let me be real the first week was rough. I had headaches, dizziness and felt constantly tired. I was basically in a fog. And no wonder I had been drinking coffee every single day since I was 17 years old. Sometimes it was just one cup, but there were periods when I easily had three cups a day. Once I got through that first difficult stretch, something amazing started to happen. More stable energy throughout the day Since removing caffeine from my routine, I have noticed a clear and lasting change in how my energy feels from morning to evening. Before, my days often started with a strong rush after that first cup of coffee. It gave me a quick sense of focus and drive, but it faded all too fast. A few hours later I would already feel the need for another boost just to stay productive. It felt like I was constantly trying to keep up with something that kept slipping away. Now things are very different. Without those artificial highs and drops, my energy has become much more steady and natural. I wake up more gradually and gently but once I get going I can stay balanced and clear-headed. There is no sudden dip in the afternoon and no shaky or restless moments either. I feel a more grounded kind of alertness that seems to come from within. It is softer and calmer than before but also more reliable. I no longer need to fight my way through the day. I move through it with more ease and presence. Better sleep finally Giving up caffeine has brought one of the most surprising and valuable changes in my daily life. I used to believe that one small cup of coffee in the afternoon could not possibly affect my sleep. It was just part of my routine and I never questioned it. But looking back I realize how often I struggled to fall asleep or woke up in the middle of the night without understanding why. Since I stopped drinking caffeine my sleep has become much more peaceful and consistent. I fall asleep more easily and stay asleep longer. In the morning I wake up with more clarity and lightness. I no longer feel heavy or slow and I do not need anything to force myself into action. Instead of dragging myself out of bed I begin the day with more calm energy and a clearer mind. This change has helped me feel more in tune with my body and what it actually needs to rest and recover. Less anxiety and a calmer mood One of the most important changes I experienced after giving up caffeine is less anxiety. I had never fully realized how much caffeine affected my nervous system until I removed it completely. Before I often felt tense without knowing why. My heart would beat faster even when I was sitting still and there were moments when my hands slightly trembled. I thought it was just part of my personality or a response to stress but it turns out it had a lot to do with what I was drinking every day. Now I feel less anxiety both mentally and physically. My body feels more relaxed and steady. I do not experience that shaky feeling anymore and I breathe more deeply and naturally. My thoughts are not racing and I can stay present even in situations that used to make me nervous. Less anxiety has also improved my confidence because I feel more in control of my reactions. This shift has taught me how closely the body and mind are connected. When I stopped stimulating my system constantly with caffeine I gave my body space to settle. That physical calm has created mental calm as well. Living with less anxiety feels like finally being able to rest inside my own skin. Better hydration and clearer skin Another benefit I started noticing after removing caffeine was better hydration and clearer skin. For years I drank coffee first thing in the morning no matter how dehydrated I felt. Deep down I always knew that what my body truly needed was water but the habit was stronger. Since I was seventeen the very first thing I consumed every single day was coffee. Looking back I can hardly believe what I was doing to myself. Now things have changed. I no longer ignore what my body is really asking for. I start the day with water or herbal tea and I feel more refreshed and nourished. There is no more dryness in my mouth and my skin feels much calmer and more alive. I reach for fluids throughout the day more naturally without forcing it. My skin has become clearer and smoother. The redness and occasional breakouts have faded and my whole face looks more balanced. Most importantly I have started treating myself with more care. This small daily choice has become a quiet reminder that I deserve to feel good. Letting go of caffeine helped me reconnect with my body and its real needs. And from here on I choose to be much kinder to myself. Freedom from the habit There were times when we stayed in places without a coffee machine or even a café nearby and honestly it threw me off completely. I would wake up annoyed and restless. If I could not get coffee within the first half hour I started to feel like something was wrong with the world. More than once I either went out half awake to track down a cup or convinced my husband to go find one for me. He does not even like coffee but there he was wandering unfamiliar streets like a loyal caffeine delivery service. At the time I thought it was normal. I believed this was just how mornings worked for people like me. What I did not fully realize was how deeply I had become dependent on this one habit. Coffee was not just a drink. It was the thing I believed I needed in order to function feel human and face the day. Since letting it go I have discovered something I never expected. A quiet kind of freedom. The pressure is gone. My mornings feel lighter and more spacious. I can begin the day without rushing to fix something that is missing. I no longer feel at the mercy of a craving or bound to a routine that did not actually serve me. This change is more than physical. It gave me back a small piece of self-trust. I do not need anything outside of myself to feel steady and awake. And that simple truth has made all the difference. ☕ Caffeine Free Lifestyle – Shopping List 1. Some can act as a comforting coffee substitute while others simply offer something nourishing and gentle for your body and mind. Coffee alternatives with a similar vibe – chicory root coffee – barley coffee – roasted dandelion root tea – steamed plant based milk with cinnamon or cacao – warm carob drink Soothing and refreshing caffeine free drinks – herbal teas like chamomile lemon balm or rooibos – warm water with lemon and fresh ginger – smoothies with banana berries or oats – fruit infused water with cucumber mint or citrus – golden milk with turmeric and oat or almond milk You can still enjoy your quiet morning ritual or afternoon break just in a new way that leaves you feeling light and clear. Final thoughts Living without caffeine does not mean giving up comfort or energy. For me it has meant discovering a more gentle rhythm that supports both my body and my mind. The surprising part is that I do not feel like I am missing out. Quite the opposite. I feel more connected to what I truly need and what actually makes me feel good in the long run. Over time I also chose to let go of alcohol which I had been holding onto more for habit than pleasure. These two decisions together have made a real difference in how I feel day to day. I am more balanced more present and less reactive. There is more clarity in my thoughts and more softness in the way I move through life. I never thought I would say this but giving up both caffeine and alcohol has brought more ease not less. Whether you start your morning with herbal tea hot lemon water or simply a few quiet moments to yourself you might be surprised by how peaceful it feels. Try it for two weeks. Just observe. Your body has its own wisdom and it will let you know what works. Sometimes all we need is to step back and listen. Bye, Friends!
- Spritz Reloaded – 6 Summer Drinks to Sip Instead of Aperol
Because after 10 years of orange, we're craving something new For over a decade, summer evenings were synonymous with one thing: Aperol Spritz. The color, the clinking ice cubes, the slight bitterness mixed with bubbly prosecco – it was our go-to. But this year, something shifted. Maybe it’s the heat, maybe it’s just the itch for something different, but suddenly I found myself reaching for alternatives. And guess what? There’s a whole world of spritz-worthy drinks out there, just as refreshing, light and perfect for sunset sipping. We’ve just returned from Ischia, a dreamy island in Southern Italy, and beyond the stunning beaches and lemon groves, it also brought a wave of drink inspiration. Bitter and sour notes with a hint of sweetness are exactly what my summer soul needed. Here are six beautiful and easy to make drinks that are giving Aperol a well deserved summer break. 1. Sarti Spritz – the pink newcomer A friend of mine recently recommended this one and I haven’t even tasted it yet, but I can already tell it’s going to be a new favorite. Made with Sarti Rosa, it’s a pink, slightly bitter aperitif that looks just as good as it sounds. Prosecco and soda bring the fizz and citrus slices add that extra summer sparkle. How to make it: – 5 cl Sarti Rosa – 8 cl prosecco – splash of soda – orange slice and ice 2. Limoncello Spritz – a glass of sunshine This was the drink in Ischia. We saw it on every menu and tasted quite a few versions during warm evenings by the sea. The lemony sweetness, combined with bubbles and mint, feels like a beach vacation in a glass. How to make it: – 5 cl limoncello – 8 cl prosecco – soda water – lemon slice and mint leaves 3. Campari Spritz – bold and bittersweet If you’re in the mood for something with more depth, Campari is the way to go. Stronger and more herbal than Aperol, it has this grown up charm I’ve really come to enjoy. Especially when paired with lots of ice and a twist of orange peel. How to make it: – 5 cl Campari – 8 cl prosecco – soda – orange peel and ice 4. Lillet Vive – French chic in a glass Light, floral and super refreshing. Lillet Blanc is a French aperitif that works beautifully with tonic or soda. Add strawberries and cucumber slices and it instantly becomes that kind of drink you serve when friends come over and never want to leave. How to make it: – 5 cl Lillet Blanc – 10 cl tonic or soda – fresh strawberries and cucumber 5. Hugo – the elderflower classic We almost forgot about this one, right? - Rain boots - Time for a chic update
This time I need your help, my dear friends. For almost 10 years I have been wearing my old riding boots whenever it rains and to be honest I am starting to feel a bit silly in them. I think it is finally time for something more stylish, something that actually suits me. So I started looking for options and I found a few that I really like. Because let’s be real, just because it is raining does not mean we have to give up on looking good. Whether you are heading to work, running errands or meeting friends for a chat, a pair of chic rain boots can keep your feet dry and your outfit on point. Here are 5 fashionable and high quality picks I am seriously considering. Let me know which one you would choose. 1. Tommy Hilfiger Damen Gummistiefel Rubberised Rainboot Wasserabweisend These water resistant rain boots by Tommy Hilfiger feature a deep navy tone, subtle branding and a sleek rubberised finish. A refined choice for rainy days. Available on Amazon - https://amzn.to/3IEvZVr 2. HUNTER Damen Original Play Gummistiefel The iconic rain boot. Durable, sleek and beautifully shaped. A must have for those who want to stay dry and stylish. Available on Amazon: https://amzn.to/46dMnGl 3. Regenliebe Damen Gummistiefel Pfütze halbhoch This mid height boot by Regenliebe comes in a soft matte finish with a colour matched sole and subtle decorative buckle. The material feels light and flexible, and it is noticeably softer than classic PVC. With its comfortable fit and simple look, it is a great choice for everyday rainy weather. The shaft also looks comfortably wide – which is a big plus for me, as I have slightly wider calves. Available on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4f6Ou16 4. HUNTER Damen Original Tall Gummistiefel The Hunter Original is simple, sturdy and fully waterproof – a reliable choice for wet weather. I already liked the shorter version, but the tall one really caught my eye too. It adds a bit more elegance and presence, perfect for dressing up even on grey days. Available on Amazon https://amzn.to/46OEJSS 5. Ultrapower Unisex Gummistiefel Comfy, cute and ready for any muddy adventure, these brushed Ultrapower boots are a rainy day win. The red colour is super fun and eye catching, but I think I would go for this one as a second pair – something playful to brighten up gloomy days. Available on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4nQz7h3 So... which one should I choose? Honestly I like them all for different reasons, from classic black to playful colors each pair has something special. That is why I need your help. I added a little poll below, just click on the one you like best and help me decide. I cannot wait to see which one gets the most love. Bye, Friends!
